The Odissi Documentation Project is a pioneering initiative of CHOWK’s Research program to address the issue of archiving traditional performing arts with a practice-oriented outlook. This project will involve the documentation of rhythm in Odissi dance as practiced at the centre.

Odissi Documentation Project (ODP) will address these two knowledge gaps in the dual contexts of traditional Indian dance practices as well as international performing art archives. First, the lack of extensive documentation and archival initiatives that are practice-based for traditional Indian dance forms. Second, the lack of representation of traditional performing arts in the wider debate on documentation and archival.

The project is supported by the National Arts Council Singapore's Research & Development Grant.
